Update on library closure

UPDATE Tuesday, May 20: The library will be closed all day today, but we are expecting to be open normal operating business hours beginning tomorrow. The library’s pest control service provider has been able to thoroughly evaluate the bedbug sighting and has found it to be contained to a small area near the public computers. That area has been treated. No other area, including our community room, has been affected. We’d like to thank the public for their patience as we have worked to cautiously address the situation.

Monday, May 19: Out of an abundance of caution, the library is closed today (May 19) to further evaluate a bedbug sighting near the public computers. Because of the shared nature of our materials, bedbugs in libraries are taken very seriously. Bethlehem Public Library staff have been extensively trained in how to identify and respond to this issue. The library also receives regular quarterly inspections, the most recent of which was just last week and came back negative for bedbugs. While this may have been a one-off sighting, we thank you for your understanding as we work to determine whether further action is required. Please check back for updates.
