Thursdays in the Park

The library has teamed up with Bethlehem Town Parks and Recreation to offer a family-friendly series of events every Thursday at 7 p.m. from July 1-August 5 at Elm Avenue Park. Shows are co-sponsored by the Friends of Bethlehem Public Library and take place on the special events lawn at the park, with space available on a first come basis.

July 1: Jester Jim

This is not your ordinary juggling show! With a trunk full of props and a looping machine, all will be glued to every sight and sound. Voted “Best Family Show” by Entertainment America.

July 8: Andy the Music Man

RESCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 19 AT 6 P.M.
Delmar resident Andy “The Music Man” Morse is a children’s musician renowned for the special way he connects with his audiences. Andy mingles traditional and original songs while delighting and involving kids through sing-a-longs, dancing, play-acting and storytelling.

July 15: Heard: World Jazz
Heard is a collective of musicians that bring their skills and passion for world music and jazz together to create irresistible grooves set in a unique sonic tapestry. Together for a decade, their vibrant sound incorporates influences from West Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean and beyond.

July 22: Image Quilt Dance Theater
A dance company focused on performing and educating in a diverse style of dance forms through which people can learn to appreciate cultures from throughout the world. The company repertory includes modern dance, flamenco, and dance from Haiti, Cuba, Nigeria, and Senegal. Performers include Omonike Akinyemi, lead dancer, Azouke, percussionist, and Lonnie and David Chu, flamenco guitar and song.

July 29: Ratboy Jr.
A rocking duo for all ages, they have a knack for blurring the lines between music for kids and music for adults, so that it becomes everyone’s music. A Ratboy Jr live show is not to be missed and the audience is always part of the show!

August 5: Magician Ron Cain
Central New York magician Ron Cain is a skilled professional committed to entertaining audiences of all ages. Children in particular, relate to his warmth and desire to make every magical experience memorable.
