Electricity 101
Inside Energy

The Retail Energy Supply Association’s (RESA) program “Electricity 101” is the inaugural program in RESA’s recently launched public affairs series Inside Energy. The Retail Energy Supply Association (www.resausa.org) is a broad and diverse group of retail energy suppliers who share the common vision that competitive retail energy markets deliver a more efficient, customer-oriented outcome than regulated utility structures. Member companies are devoted to working with all stakeholders to promote vibrant and sustainable competitive retail energy markets for residential, commercial and industrial consumers.

This series aims to educate and enlarge the viewing publics’ understanding of today’s competitive energy market.

Maureen Helmet, former chair, New York State Public Service Commission and Paul Afonso, former chairman, MA Public Utilities Commission sit down with host Jack Aernecke to discuss the savings and choices customers can now enjoy in today’s deregulated energy market.

Discussion topics include:
How does this new world of electricity work?
How many customers have taken advantage of the competitive market?
What has the restructured energy market done for consumers?
How does the competitive energy market impact reliability?
How does a resident or a business go about choosing an alternative energy provider?
What changes and what remains the same?
What key questions should consumers ask an alternative provider, and what questions should they be prepared to answer?
How does the competitive energy market sales process work?
What sources exist for further information?
