Bookshelf - The Dog Days of Summer

Staff Changes
Catherine Stollar Peters is the library's new head of circulation and technical services. Our own Chris McGinty is the library's new head of public services, and our adult services librarian Gordon Noble has taken on his new duties as information and readers' advisory manager. We extended our best wishes to adult services head Maureen Brown and assistant director Mary Trev Thomas, both longtime staffmembers who retired this summer.

Friends antiques appraisal event
Tickets will be on sale at the information desk beginning Friday August 22, till all are gone - $5 per ticket, maximum 3 tickets per person, cash/check only. Antiques appraisal day (pdf) is Saturday September 13, 9am-1pm.

Annual report
Bethlehem Public Library's annual report (pdf) for FY 2013-14 is now available on our website. The numbers tell the story, but so does the summary of the year's events and services. It was a great year; take a look! Printed copies (trifold brochure) are available in the literature rack at the information desk.

SRP end-of-summer party
Thursday August 21 * 2-4:30pm * all ages
Dancing, face painting, crafts, slime making, composting demos, and The Energy Bike!

Spotlight online
We've added a new feature to our website for local history researchers and others. Our obituary index is now linked to corresponding issues of the Spotlight, and in most cases, to the correct page. All available issues of the Spotlight, 1955-2011, are accessible from our local history page. In another development, all can now be searched simultaneously.

The Spotlight digitization project was generously underwritten by the Friends of Bethlehem Public Library.

Romance readers!
Check out our two new NOOK e-readers, full of "e-riginal" romance titles that aren't available for purchase in print.

Have you seen us lately?
Our staff can be found out and about in our community-in the schools and the Memorial Day Parade, at nursing homes and fairs, stocking paperbacks at the Bethlehem Town pool, making deliveries of library materials to the homebound. To find out more, call 439-9314.

3D printing and more

Find out how to sign up for the MakerBot Replicator 2 and other tech tools available to the public at the library.
