Caucasia by Danzy Senna |
| I don't normally read adult books, and found the story a little mature for me,
but that's my problem, and not the book's. I was especially impressed by the
writing, but which managed to keep me interested even when I found the
story unappealing. |

Darkness Creeping by Neal Shusterman |
| This is one of several short story collections written by Neal Shusterman. He
is a very talented, creative writer, and this especially becomes apparent in
his wonderful short stories. This was a great book. |

The Day the Music Died by Larry Lehmer |
| This is a very powerful book that focuses on the plane crash that killed
Buddy Holly, J.P. Richardson, Ritchie Valens and Roger Peterson. It recounts
the events leading up to the accident, the crash itself, and the impacts that
it had. A very good read and extremely well researched. |

Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card |
| This is a parallel book to the popular "Ender's Game", told from Bean's perspective. It's closely enough related that it is an awesome tie-in to the first book, but it is unique enough that it can stand alone without "Ender's Game". It is a quickly moving, enthralling story, and I would recommend it to all science fiction lovers. |

Thief of Souls by Neal Shusterman |
| This is the second book in the Star Shards Trilogy, and I liked it better than
the first book, though the first book was also pretty good. This series seems
more aimed toward an adult audience than most of Neal Shusterman's
books. Despite that, I enjoyed the suspenseful story, and look forward to
reading the sequel. |

The Cronus Chronicles: The Siren Song by Anne Ursu |
| The first book in this series was very good, but I liked this one even more.
The writing seemed a little better, and the characters gained a bit more
depth. The plot for this book was just as creative and exciting as its prequel.
I would definitely highly recommend this series. |

The Fire Thief Fights Back by Terry Deary |
| This is the final book in the Fire Thief Trilogy, which takes an unusual
approach to what might have happened to Prometheus after he was
released. This book is probably my favorite of the three. Overall it is pretty
good, though the footnotes sometimes get annoying. |

Rave On: The Biography of Buddy Holly by Philip Norman |
| This is one of the few nonfiction books that has ever made me cry. The
writing is great, and the amount of research that must have gone into this
book is impressive, making the narrative very detailed but also, at the same
time, very interesting. An excellent account of the life of an incredible
musician. |

Simon Bloom, The Gravity Keeper by Michael Reisman |
| This book was a lot of fun to read. There is a lot of great action, and the
story itself is really creative and enjoyable. Any book that involves the main
characters messing around with the laws of physics has to be good. |

Peter Pan in Scarlet by Geraldine McCaughrean |
| As an avid Peter Pan fan, I was very pleased with this book. I can't imagine
the pressure the author must have been under to write a sequel to such a
classic, but I think she did a great job. The style of writing is perfectly
playful, and the characters translated well from one writer to the other. I
highly recommend this book. |

Interworld by Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves |
| Somehow this book felt as if it was too short, and could have been better if
the story had developed a little more. However, I still enjoyed it. The story
idea was very creative and original and the writing, as Neil Gaiman's always
is, was excellent. |

Alfred Kropp: The Seal of Solomon by Rick Yancey |
| I am becoming a big fan of this series. This book was just as action-filled
and well written as its prequel, if not more so. The main character, Alfred
Kropp, is impossible to dislike, and I can't think of a single scene that I
found boring. I can't wait for the third book. |

Everlost by Neal Shusterman |
| This was not my favorite of Neal Shusterman's books, but that isn't saying
much because all of his books are wonderful. This book is very difficult to
put down, and is filled with entertaining, well-developed characters. |

Bird by Bird by Anne LaMott |
| Great book for struggling writers. It is very witty and a quick read. I found myself often laughing outloud. LaMott has a very engaging writing style and I found the book very relatable. |

Cell by Stephen King |
| This was a quick read that kept me entertained. It was good but not great, more of a 3.5. I felt there was not a lot of character development. The characters all left me wanting to know more about them, which is not typical of King. I felt a little jipped and wish he delved a little deeper. But all in all this was entertaining. I loved the concept of the 'zombies.' |
