School year volunteer opportunities

The library is looking for volunteers in grades 6-12 to help out in the following ways:

  • Chess help: Teach chess to younger kids and play games with them on Tuesday evenings.
  • Book reviewer: Teens review soon-to-be-published or newly published books.
  • Program assistant: Teens help out at a variety of programs.

Summer volunteer opportunities

Sign up for summer volunteering begins in spring. Teen volunteers help out in the following ways:

  • Book reviewer: Teens read at least three soon-to-be-published or newly published books, write a review for each and participate in one filmed book talk for BCN-TV.
  • Desk assistant: Teens register children for the reading program, assist children with their reading logs and prizes.
  • Program assistant: Teens help out at a variety of programs, including Book Buddies (reading one-on-one with kids).
  • Story reader: Teens read stories to children and more.
