School year volunteer opportunities
During the school year, we are looking for teen volunteers in grades 6-12 to help out at our Chess Club on Tuesday evenings. Please contact Tori (firstname.lastname@example.org) to get involved.
Summer volunteer opportunities
The application period for book reviewers, desk assistants, program assistants and story readers is now closed, but volunteers are still needed for the Drama Llamas, our teen drama troupe.
Do you love theater? Would you like some volunteer service hours? We’re looking for teens in grades 6-12 to create a show for some of the library’s younger patrons. Sign up for one performance or both. (Tuesday, July 11 • 1-5 p.m. or Thursday, August 17 • 1-5 p.m.) Questions? Contact Cathy at email@example.com.
Our teen summer volunteers help in the following ways:
- Book reviewer: Teens read at least three soon-to-be-published or newly published books, write a review for each and participate in one filmed book talk for BCN-TV.
- Desk assistant: Teens register children for the reading program, assist children with their reading logs and prizes.
- Program assistant: Teens help out at a variety of programs, including Book Buddies (reading one-on-one with kids).
- Story reader: Teens read stories to children and more.
